"Alonso's music and lyrics are ceaselessly (one might say restlessly) inventive, wisely side-stepping the facile and the shopworn at every juncture." -- John Harding, Patuxent Publishing

At an early age Tom fell in love with the theater music of Stephen Sondheim, Leonard Bernstein, and Rogers and Hammerstein, and composing his own scores for theater is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Tom composed the music for the Kennedy Center’s “Footsteps in the Sky” (with book and lyrics by Paul Lavrakas), incidental music and featured songs for “Escape from Nemotex” (book by Paul Lavrakas), music and lyrics for “Phantom of the Opera” (book by Michael Tilford), “Peter Rabbit” (book by Carole Graham Lehan), and “The Jazz Singer” (book by Michael Tilford).
